As a birthday present, a Kentucky man bought his wife $100 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets, and she won $500,000 from one of them.
Our Place Liquors is where the Louisville man bought a stack of scratch-off tickets. The man told lottery officials that it is hard to buy something for someone who already has everything, so he gave her $100 in scratch-offs.
As a surprise for his wife, the man presented a $20 Wild Numbers 100X ticket that won $500,000 in a birthday card.
"She walks into the living room and asks, 'Please tell me you didn't get me a joke card,'" he recalled. "What?" he asked. "I told her, 'Babe, I don't joke about money.'"
I stared at it in amazement. She showed it to me once again, and I said, "Yeah, this is unbelievable."."
His wife's prize was collected by the man at lottery headquarters.
This will be our best birthday ever. This will never happen again," he said.
